ASSESSMENT 2 FERRARI 250 GTO-FRONT

Like the given image above, my first task with the assessment was to make the front window of the Ferrari 250 GTO using a sheet of aluminium, metal making tools, and skills learnt from the previous assignment.
Here is the process of making:
1. Firstly, a piece of metal was cut to estimate the shape and size of the front window. The estimation was made by placing paper over the particular part and tracing it with a pen.
2. In my first generalisation, I thought the slightly round shape replicated the shape of a bowl, so using a round end mallet and a sand bag, I started to stretch the metal piece to create a slight round shape.

3. The curve needed to be more emphasised on the top parts where it joins to the roof of the car, hence I focused in hitting these parts harder using the sharp end of the mallet.

4. I have realised that the shape actually had a double curve on the edge like a torus, hence after making a a slight curve shape, I curved the edges using the metal shaper

5. The shrinker was used to create the dramatic curve where the front window area meets the bonnet of the car

6. Lastly, the English Wheel was used to smooth the surface.

7. 150 sanding paper was used to further smooth the surface

8. Metal polisher was used for aesthetic reasons
