1st ATTEMPT OF MAKING A BOWL (LOST)

For the first part of the assignment, we were given the task to create a bowl shape with a metal sheet. Here were the processes in creating this bowl, even though it got stolen halfway throughout the project. (my fault for leaving at uni...)

  1. We were given a square aluminium sheet, where we drew the dimension of a circle to match the size of out bowl. (Mine was 30cm in diameter)
  2. The sheet was cut into the desired shape
  3. Another circle was drawn on the cut piece to show areas to hit
  4. Outer rim of circle was hit hard using a mallet to create puckers. This is later hit into shape to make that round bowl shape.
  5. The insides are then hit to stretch the material.
  6. These two steps are repeated until the desired shape is created.
  7. Using a flat head metal hammer and a spherical shaped object, the bowl is hit to create a smoother shape.
  8. This can also be done easier using the English wheel.

Here is me hitting the bowl with a hammer

First Attempt in making bowl. If anyone has seen or taken this bowl, please tell me. RIP my half made bowl.
